Andranik Ghazarian, founder and chief executive of Fine Art International Switzerland AG, met the French art historian, art critic and exhibition curator Philippe Piguet for a conversation about pictures, exhibitions and the long work of looking after them.
Piguet is a descendant of Claude Monet, and his relationship with the painter's world began early: Giverny, the garden, the house and the pictures were part of a family history before they became a professional subject. That double perspective — family memory on one side, decades of scholarship and curating on the other — is unusual, and it is exactly the kind of perspective Ghazarian seeks out.

The two men have discussed, among other subjects, the exhibition "Romance & Starlight" in Guizhou, China, which presented works from the FINAIS Collection to a Chinese public. Piguet's curatorial experience and Ghazarian's laboratory practice meet naturally around such a project: one asks what a picture means in an exhibition, the other asks what the picture is, physically, and what it needs.
